Life is full of seasons. Some are long and steady, while others shift quickly, leaving us standing in places that feel unfamiliar. Recently, I’ve found myself in a season of change. At first, it was unsettling. Change often feels like stepping into the unknown—but it has also been a gentle reminder that God is always steady, even when my circumstances are not. I have moved homes after 40 years of a place I found familiar to a new city, new house and where I do not know anyone.
I’ve learned that the key to navigating change is grace. Grace for myself when I don’t have all the answers. Grace for others who may not understand my journey. And most importantly, resting in God’s grace, which assures me that I don’t have to walk this path alone. “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, KJV)

Change sometimes means letting go—of routines, comfort zones, and even people. That can be hard. But I believe God never leaves empty spaces in our lives. Where He removes, He also restores. Where He closes a door, He gently opens another.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV)
I trust that as I move into this new season, He will bring new friendships into my life—people who encourage, uplift, and walk alongside me in faith. “And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” (Isaiah 58:11, KJV)
I don’t know all that lies ahead, but I do know this: God’s plans are good. His timing is perfect. And His love is constant. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11, KJV) That truth allows me to embrace change, not with fear, but with hope.
If you’re in a season of transition, I want to encourage you: don’t resist the change God is bringing. Instead, lean into His presence. Ask Him to show you the beauty of this new chapter. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, KJV)
With God, every change is simply an invitation to grow closer to Him.
I have added my prayer to help me navigate my current situation.
A Prayer for Seasons of Change
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being my unchanging anchor in a world that is always shifting. As I walk through this season of change, help me to rest in Your grace and trust in Your perfect plan. Surround me with the friendships and relationships that will strengthen my walk with You, and remove any fear from my heart. Teach me to embrace the new things You are doing, knowing that every step I take is guided by Your hand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
